Children of the Fifties

High school football and romance in 1955—that golden era. This is a true story. If it were fiction, you wouldn’t believe it. The author lived this story and shares with you the hope and optimism of that by-gone era. How often have you heard someone say, “Times are not as good as they used to be”? This is a story about that time in our youth when times were as good as they would ever be. I recently met a friend from high school whom I had not seen in a long time. He asked, ”Are you and Nancy still together?” I replied, “Yes.” “Good,” he said, “I want to believe that for someone love can last.” This is also the story of a football team that would not let defeat after defeat crush them or their will to overcome adversity and win.
