The Last General

The Last General is the story of General Robert Tyler, for whom Fort Tyler, in West Point, Georgia--the last Confederate fort captured by Union soldiers in the Civil War--is named. Tyler, critically injured in battle, was sent to West Point to recuperate. This work of creative nonfiction provides a close-up view of a dedicated military man and how some ordinary citizens and injured soldiers experienced the war.
