We all have childish expectations of our lives when we are young that we must relinquish with age. His mental state digresses and his world becomes unstable as he finds himself wrapped in an inescapable cycle of drugs and depravity. His youthful ideals are dismantled as he slowly becomes all the things that he once despised. It is not until his true love is lost, his best friend deceased, and his addictions worsening that the boy realizes that he is the cause of his own demise and, perhaps, the arbiter of his own fate. Now, with the help of the story's narrator, he must race to make amends for his mistakes before it is too late.
