Alzheimer's - The Confrontation is a series of interrelated poems in first person with alternate pages in blank, then free verse, separated with drawings by Herbert Hofer, an internationally known artist. In blank verse the individual describes himself, his daily surroundings and activities in a nursing home. At night, in free verse, his window becomes a mirror in which he sees what he was and wanted to be.

"Albert Hartkorn's, Alzheimer's - The Confrontation, is a world apart. He throws a maelstrom of images and places at the reader in ways that are both beautiful and heartfelt. For those who enjoy revisiting rhyme schemes and iambic pentamic prose, Hartkorn is effortless to read. His words are powerful and tender, like a symphony that draws classical notes from thin air, pressing them into our bodies and moving us in new directions that resonate for years to come." (Glenn Lyvers, Editor; Poetry Quarterly)

Under a pseudonym, Hartkorn has been published in Suwannee, Caribbean Writer, Mobius, The Lyric, The Classical Outlook, Skylark (Canada), Orbis and Staple 16 (Great Britain) and in numerous other publications. His previous volumes of poetry include Variations On Different Things, Hiroshima Testament, and Doe which are available at Amazon. Other volumes, 79th Street Bridge and Memories Of President Kennedy are not now available at booksellers.
