Born in Detroit just a few years before he started school, the author has survived mostly by "not quitting his day job". "That never really worked out for me.", he states, though we're not really sure how he means that.
He has spent most of his years studying life as a biologist, contemplating death as a poet, and searching in vain for a third alternative.
He currently resides in a small town in the Mojave Desert.
