Boston Scream Pie

The roiling blizzard toys with the overweight Chrysler, nudging it into a counterclockwise spin, launching the vehicle both left and forward. The momentum leads to impact: a thundering, crunching of metal and glass. Caitlin Neuman awakes from this nightmare, which could be a harrowing recollection of a past disaster. She remains the lone survivor of a crash that killed her parents and twin sister. Or the nightmare could be eerie insight into some family she's never met. Then again, it could be just a bad dream.

Caitlin engages retired Detective Paco LeSoto and his clever wife, Molly, to find out the truth. Molly, a gourmet cook and housekeeper, spouts her own deliciously skewed English. (Paco suspects her "Mollyprops" are clever contrivances.) Molly also uncovers her share of clues. Their investigation takes them to the Boston family, another set of twins, and a string of suspicious deaths.

The Bostons reside in a sprawling Chesapeake Bay beachside home not thirty miles from the Neumans. Widower Newton Boston and his blonde bombshell wife, Delylah, are newlyweds. Her adult children, Chester and Ellen, churn up vicious undercurrents that threaten the entire household. Four deceased husbands lie in Delylah's past. When another family member dies under mysterious circumstances, the clues point to murder. Britta, a wily caregiver to one of the twins, does her part to stir the boiling emotions.

A sinister connection embroils two 1987 Maryland families who have never met. The fates of two sets of twins hurtle toward each other with deadly consequences.
