Desert Fireflies

When Prudence Litchfield's beloved brother, William, mysteriously disappears from a mining camp in Arizona Territory, she journeys West to retrieve his motherless children.Her brother's mining partner, Matthew McCallister, is vague about what is being done to find William, and tries to persuade her to return to Boston. Suspicious of his secrecy and insistence that she leave, she determines to investigate on her own. Her inquiries lead to threats and murder and reveal a plot to sabotage the mines. In the exciting climax, Prudence's niece and nephew are kidnapped and their wounded dog, Bucket, leads her into the mountains to find them. But will she be too late?
