John Greenleaf Whittier's the Barefoot Boy

Adapted and illustrated by Lisa Greenleaf, a descendent of the Greenleaf Whittier family, Ms. Greenleaf has included details and imagery from John Greenleaf Whittier's childhood home in Haverhill, MA to recount his youthful observations. This adaptation also includes a brief biography of Whittier describing his achievements and accomplishments as a poet, an abolitionist, a mentor to Louisa May Alcott, and a contemporary of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and the other Fireside Poets.
