Jane Wagner was an artist who owned an art gallery in Chicago, and John Young, an Air Force Major, was a test pilot at Edwards Air Force Base in California. They met on a night flight from L.A. to Chicago. After marrying, they moved to Santa Monica. When John's two estranged, teenaged stepchildren appeared on their doorstep, their lives changed in a way that was both heartwarming and humorous.
