Storm!" The writer, Pearl Glasgow, is a Pastor at World Impact
International Ministries, Brooklyn, New York. In her greener years she was an active athlete participating in regional and national sporting activities in the country of her birth, Trinidad and Tobago. She has now devoted her life to serving others from the pulpit to the pen. This first book in the series is an extended metaphor on life as a race. It covers the actual dynamics of the preparation and performance of a runner and relates this athletic activity to the human condition.
On one level, Glasgow assumes the role of an athletic coach to guide the reader, as a type of trainee, from a point of uncertainty to self-assurance and from pessimism to supreme optimism. She does this by presenting her ideas in a conversational tone which has the effect of engaging the reader in a series of life exercises. The intimacy created between herself and the reader succeeds in conveying the message of the urgency of overcoming.
On another level, the author is a counsellor helping others to restory their lives as a result of having read narratives about people who have risen above problematic circumstances. She writes with what may be called 'a listening ear' and responds to what she thinks a reader might be saying or feeling in a particular situation. Then she illustrates how
Bible-based knowledge can be applied in thought mapping for victorious living.
