After several years in Latin America as French Cultural Attaché, Marianne Tell retreats to a reclusive life at the Ministry of Culture in Paris. She remains haunted by the disappearance of a Salvadorian poet with whom she fell in love. A package from Havana containing his writings forces her into action and she gets involved with the Salvadorian community in exile. A shocking loss leads her to El Salvador where she embarks on a journey of personal discovery and political intrigue.
