Jay VanVessy, an aspiring writer who has successfully caught the mondo wave of a fleeting literary career, takes a sabbatical after spending eighteen grueling months on a promotional tour.

Journeying into the Deep South searching for the bones of a story that has been sprouting within his mind. He arrives in Mussel Shoals, a town where the Southern rock music wave began recording in the late 1960s.

In Mussel Shoals is a story waiting to be unearthed. Jay has decided to rest, recuperate, and delve into the sleepy little town's past. He wants to write a book based on truth, a novel that will open eyes world wide. His eyes will be opened as well, as he falls into friendships that whisk him away on a heart-rending emotional roller coaster that defies gravities pull.

Jay, thinking he has come to rest up in Mussel Shoals, soon realizes that no rest is in sight.
