This is an extraordinary memoir by an administrator in higher education at a major American university in the 1960s and 1970s. It covers the 25-year career as Dean of Students at Tulane University in New Orleans of John H. Stibbs, giving his obersvations and personal anecdotes about the"times of trouble" at a complex and controversial period of the institution's history. Completed by Dean Stibbs only months before his sudden death in 1975, the year he planned to retire, the memoir lay in obscurity until 2010 when it was discrovered by PhD candidate in American Studies at SUNY-Buffalo, John Edgar Browning, who editied and annotated it. Includes 20 photos, over 30 news clippings ,ephemera and a comprehensive index.
