Being a religious man, Jack L. Druck, owner and publisher of the Carbondale (Pennsylvania) Leader daily newspaper, felt children needed help in comprehending the Bible. The writing style in that book—let us be truthful—is difficult reading. To make comprehension easier by retelling stories of the Bible in modern conversational language, he embarked on the challenging enterprise of including photographs of great Bible paintings that hang in museums all over the world. However, he did this in 1929.
