Breaking the Chains to Mississippi

Alice Faye Polk grew up witnessing violence, poverty and abuse in Mississippi, and she was determined not to repeat that cycle in her adult life. As an adolescent, she moved to Pennsylvania with great hopes of living a better life. But soon, she found herself reliving generational patterns. She did not give up. With faith in God, she made great strides in breaking the chains of abusive relationships and raising several of her children to attend college. Now at a family reunion back in Mississippi, Alice narrates a letter in hopes of uplifting the next generation. The inspiration includes healing prayers to help others in dire circumstances.
