Dedication

"This book is dedicated to Michael Sayers, my friend, a great literary Maestro, who trained me, and rigorously shaped my writing of this book and its Motion Picture Screen Play into this present form.

A deep thank you."

'Death Match' is based on a true story experienced by the author,
who in 1976 accepted a
One Million Dollar wager for a fight to the death with a Great White Shark using only a knife.
It was to be held in an underwater iron cage in Samoa, with closed-circuit TV, broadcast live to the US, Russia & Japan via satellite.

The story made front page headlines: New York Magazine
April 5, 1976
"Man Vs Shark: MILLION DOLLAR Death Match in Samoa
[Sponsored by Sargent Productions Hollywood].

The real match never happened.
It was canceled at the very last minute by the world famous oceanographer Jacques Cousteau.
This is the story of what might have happened. The knife on the front cover, IS the actual knife I would have used for the fight.
Buckle up your seat belts!!
