This is the fifth book in a series of books written by George- Birdie- Mathes.
There are 50 plus poems/stories in this book that cover a wide variety of life experiences. Some of the tales are very sad, especially the two written about my beloved brother-in-law Arthur "Skip" Kelley who fought his battle with amyloidosis so bravely for four years before he passed. There will always be love poems to my bride of 54 years, Joan Ballou Mathes. The book itself is dedicated to my fantastic, beloved daughter Janna, who is such a bright,
shining light in our lives, as she decorates the front of our house for all of the seasonal festivities; pumpkin motifs for the kids who come to the house for their treats and a bazillion lights strung up on our doorway and all of our hedges. She IS the spirit of Christmas for us.
There is even a story about the stray animals I feed at night and all the fun I have giving them a little "help out" in a world that has all but wiped out their habitat. There are also poems about friends who have had physical and mental problems in their lives that, I felt, would take comfort in a few loving words. Yes, the stories within were written "For those who would be Glad."
I feel that these poems and stories could, possibly, be a comfort to someone you know and that you yourself might take some comfort from them and BE GLAD, as you sense God's Spirit in these little poems and stories.
