The Legend of Bear Mountain

In an American Indian village a boy and a girl were born on nearly the same day. Two birds, a golden eagle and a white dove, each lost a wing feather near the respective baby's tepees. They were named Gold Eagle and Lilly White Dove. After their children were educated and left home Gold Eagle would take a soccer ball to the pasture and pretend to play. Bears looked on and soon joined in. The rest of the story develops around two teams composed of brown and black bears.
