We think we know our parents. Some of us don't.
When Kate's father becomes terminally ill with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, she drives to Phoenix to help her fragile mom make some tough decisions. What she finds is heartbreaking-Dad, the veteran, the retired postal worker, the church-going family man, the avid sportsman, her rock steady hero is now stricken by rapid-onset dementia. He says he is an assassin, with secret boxes containing secret stuff. He warns Kate that "they" are after him.
After Dad dies suddenly of a medication overdose, Kate learns her dad's talk was anything but crazy. She discovers his "secret stuff," which includes hundreds of thousands in cash, a sniper rifle, an unfilled contract, and a last letter addressed to her, explaining an unspoken truth she had never imagined.
Now "they" are after her.
