A Summary:

Charles is a young man searching for the truth. After being told by his college professor, his uncle and his mother that there is no God and that he is merely a product of evolution, he begins a downward spiral into drug use. He drops out of college, looses his employment, and eventually ends up being tangled up in the drug world and accused of murder. He alienates his mother and his sister, his father who was never around to make a positive impact on his life, and drives full speed ahead on a suicide mission of complete self destruction ending in his arrest. While in prison he meets a man named James who discusses with him the possibility that God is the author of human conscience. He hears a rabbi speak of this very same thing and begins a spiritual quest once more for the truth, this time bathed in prayer.
