Omerta: A Short Story

Omertà means "code of silence" in Mafia-speak. In this short story, Gloria Spencer had been warned about Sicily-mobs of sinister men with murderous minds. Still, when she crosses the Strait of Messina with her friend Kathy, Gloria never dreamed she'd get an offer she can't refuse. Although "Omertà" is a work of literary fiction, its style and content are more whimsical and sinister than Szarke's first stand-alone short, "Stone Wall," set in Ireland, featuring Gloria Spencer. The tone of each book successfully captures the culture and settings.
