The Moonshine Maker

You can’t write about West Virginia or Appalachia if you don’t talk about moonshine. It’s a staple here. Many things in my life added up to who I am, but nothing so much as making moonshine. I got a guy by the name of Richard Nease to teach me the trade. Richard and I were good buddies. He knew a lot about moonshining and offered to help me set up my first barrel. It wasn’t like I could go to a cookbook.
