Aglow with the thrill of new power, Kalanna is eager to charge into her new world. However, as she quickly learns, there is a price to be paid for everything in life. As she adapts to her new-and increasingly horrifying-role, she begins to wonder if having control is just an illusion.

Tormented by those willing to commit fouler acts than her, Kalanna finds herself pushed and pulled in every direction by their dreadful whims. Death and terror find her at every turn, making it seem as though power just means being a slave to those with even greater power.
