Brewing Storm 1939-1941

For fifteen years Major C. M. Enriquez enjoyed an idyllic life in the mountains of Mogok, Burma. In 1939, his peaceful existence was shattered as reports arrived that the European war was not going well. His diaries captured twenty-eight months of suspense and anxiety as the Japanese war machine rumbled ever closer to the borders of Burma.

Even more alarming was the subversive propaganda that encouraged the Burmese to turn against the small, isolated British community in Mogok. With no hope of military support, the Major, his family, and his friends could do nothing but watch as the storm clouds of conflict blackened and grew.
