Starting Out

The author, Chris Wright, was brought up in a Christian family where his father was a church minister. But it wasn't until he was seventeen that Chris realized he had been telling himself for years that to be a Christian he had to try to earn − to somehow deserve − forgiveness and eternal life in heaven.

One night he understood that he could never manage this by his own efforts, but only through accepting − as an underserved gift − the death of Jesus on the cross to wash away all that was wrong in his life, and then asking to be part of God's family. And it worked!
