Terrapods: The Invasion Begins

Two asteroids collide near Jupiter's moon Io, sending one of them to Earth. It breaks up in the atmosphere depositing its valuable cargo on an unsuspecting world. The world will soon awake to find they are not alone, but what are they and more importantly why are they here?
