Containing facts and anecdotes on over 300 plants The Language of Flowers and the Victorian Garden describes not only the plants themselves but also their many uses, their folklore and the various names by which they have been called over the centuries.  There are numerous quotes from some of the foremost gardening writers of the Victorian era and the book is illustrated with pencil drawings based on 19th century botanical prints.
