There was no more oil, natural gas or coal left. Fossil fuel was no longer the main player in the energy game. Sustainable energy, generated from renewable sources, like solar energy, hydroelectricity and wind energy, was simply not sufficient. Progress and new technologies actually exacerbated the situation. Everyone believed in the positive effect of the energy batteries on their lives and no one was prepared for what was to come. Power restrictions were imposed on countries across the globe. Less and less energy was available to people, despite the efforts of the international community to overcome the crisis. The future seemed doomed.
