Marion Walsham was born on the Tweed in 1946 and has spent her life in this beautiful part of Australia.
A double lung transplant in 2009 saved her life from the ravages of the brutal lung disease, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).
It had already taken the lives of her father and brother and the scourge of the disease continued in the family, killing her surviving brother in 2014.
This profound event started her on a journey of gratitude for her donor and his or her family, her own family and the Queensland Lung Transplant Service, based in Brisbane.
Marion has written her story in an effort to reach out to victims of IPF, and as an advocate, to raise awareness of the disease and her concerns about the lack of funding for research.
She is able to share her experiences with the disease as one of the original core of five volunteers involved in the Australian IPF Peer Support Program, conducted through the Lung Foundation Australia.
