Hidden in a jewelry box, Heather Ross discovers a faded, torn scrap of card: a souvenir of the arrival of a carnival of magicians at the Callanish Stones in the remote Isle of Lewis when her great-grandmother was still a girl. Heather is fascinated by the magicians' card - all the more so when she discovers that there is more to the tale than her granny ever knew.

After years spent trying to follow the thread of the troupe's mysterious comings and goings, Heather finally sets out to track down the magicians for herself. But is she prepared for what she will find when a story becomes reality?
