‘A very clever and fun way to help children to remember numbers. Highly recommended!’
-Wishing Shelf Book Review, England-
“Being a primary school teacher and literacy co-ordinator, I must say, I was very impressed.”
"I very much enjoyed this short book on numbers. I worked with it for a lesson with two five year old boys, and they seemed to love it. They liked that the numbers often had eyes and mouths and looked like real book characters; and they all loved the fire truck and the rollercoaster rails on number eight. I would happily have this book in the school library or on the shelf in the classroom."

"Which number is two?"

"I don't know... "
This rendering of a conversation between a parent and child may be heard in homes where a child is learning his/her numbers. The number names are fairly easily memorized. However, when asked to connect the names to the correct numerical figure, a child may be found lost. So many books, flashcards, and activity books have been published, bombarding little learners with numbers zero to ten. Yet how many circulated works truly serve to anchor the connection between the number name and its pictorial symbol? It is true that with the passage of time, children do identify the numbers. Generations of children have mastered this numerical language without the aid of this little book. But if they did have this book, learning the numbers would have been far more enjoyable. Children (and adults) are fond of rhymes, the mind quickly remembering and willingly memorizing. The simple pictorial rhyme will indeed come to an aid of a child who is desperately searching for the number 2.
"Which number is two? Two trails a..."

"I know. Two trails a tail! It's this one."
TWO BOOKS IN ONE
- In The Number Story 1, Numbers find a way to help children connect their number names with the correct number symbol. Choosing just the right props and costumes, they create a jingle to help children remember the specific features of each number.
- In The Number Story 2, Numbers introduce children to the next step of number learning: counting. Still donning on their specific attires, Numbers ease children into the 1-to1 correspondence of counting--Numbers are used for counting.
The Number Story 1 / The Number Story 2 is a little book that can truly benefit many different types of learners. The book has been written to serve as a half-step to the huge step of mastering numbers zero to ten. The bright pictures, the cheerful disposition of the Numbers, and their cute jingle are sure to win the favor of children far and wide.
