Robert LaVoie is a writer based in Northern New York--the true Northern New York, north of the Adirondacks. He fell in love with the North Country after being brought to Lake Placid on a family vacation in 1964. He became a Social Studies teacher at St. Regis Falls Central School in 1989. He is now retired and lives in West Stockholm, New York.

About AN ADIRONDACK CHRISTMAS: This charming story follows the somewhat whimsical adventures of a retiree as he takes up residence in a Northern New York cabin, only to find his "peace and quiet" disturbed in unexpected and quite wonderful ways. His strategy for retreating from humanity ironically brings him a wealth of human contact and love--in addition to the cherished companionship of a stray dog he acquires (or who acquires him). Beautiful watercolor illustrations are provided by Melody Potter, capturing the spirit of the Adirondacks and the heart of the story. This is a book you will read more than once, and recommend to your friends. If you have traveled in Northern New York, AN ADIRONDACK CHRISTMAS will bring you back to that gorgeous scenery, interesting people, and surprises around each corner.
