The Bilbao Gambit

On leave pending the outcome of an excessive force complaint, Harley-riding LAPD Detective Ben Kaye witnesses a minor traffic accident that erupts into a shooting, leaving four dead. Kaye wants only to be a good witness, go back to Los Angeles and quit the job he's come to doubt.

But when another attempt is made on his life, Kaye discovers that he and the only other survivor of the highway rampage - a young woman who bears a startling resemblance to Kaye's recently deceased wife - share a link that goes back to his military days and she asks for his help, he feels duty-bound.

Kaye soon realizes he's not investigating a simple case of road rage. The hunt for the shooter leads him into an international conspiracy of murder, greed, betrayal, politics and revenge dating back to the theft of a priceless art treasure in pre-WWII Paris and spanning the Middle East, Europe and America. He must use all his skills and guile to catch the killer and prevent an unimaginable act of domestic terror.
