This chapbook is second in a fivepart series of essential selections from acclaimed poet David Kherdian's vast catalog of poems written over the past 50 years. Poems 2 surveys Kherdian's midseventies poetic output from three classic titles: The Nonny Poems, published by Macmillan in 1974, Any Day of Your Life, published by Overlook in 1975, and I Remember Root River, published by Overlook in 1978.

Poems 2 explores love and nature during difficult times. The poems set in the present in New York City have a meditative toughness, while those set in New Hampshire have a country clarity surpassing anything Kherdian had written before. The selections conclude with poems exploring Kherdian's youth and they provide widely recognizable experiences of childhood and adolescence that are revived with all their original immediacy and nuance.
