Financial economics, both macro and micro, measures economic activity with reference to money. This book introduces the processes of economics by defining the basic activity as the use of a resource to accomplish an objective and not the exchange of money for goods and services.

While processes do not have data, and therefore cannot provide measured information for use in decision making, looking at economics as a process and not a collection and interpretation of data widens the scope of economics to include familial and patron-peasant economies that are not explainable by financial economics
