Cheryl and her husband, Jim rescue a pair of Great Horned Owl babies in the late winter of 2016. The family’s nest falls from the top of an eighty-foot-tall pine tree in the woods behind their home. After surviving the fall unharmed; the frightened little owlets are left unprotected and stranded on the ground. Unable to defend themselves, these precious birds would most likely not have survived. After seeking advice from a professional, Cheryl and Jim build a makeshift nest using a wicker basket and attempt the dangerous task of relocating the owlets. The adult Great Horned Owls, with a reputation of being extremely aggressive; allow Cheryl to safely transport their babies to the new nest without showing any aggression. The parents accept the help and continue caring for their family safely, off the ground. Cheryl spends a great amount of time with this entire family even after the young owls leave the wicker basket nest. In this book, Cheryl shares her emotions as she observes this owl family and witnesses these two adorable owlets grow and experience life in the wild. She documents the details of the rescue, the journey of the two owlets which she names Wisdom and Willow, and the heartwarming outcome of a successful rescue. A new generation in the wild, that with a little help from Cheryl and Jim... will continue on forever.
Cheryl has always had a strong connection with wildlife and a great love for exploring nature. Her devotion and determination to help this family of owls turns out to be one of the most gratifying decisions she has ever made. Through this experience, she learns the struggles of survival, the amazing bond of a family and the gift of gratitude. What makes this story special is to see how animals and humans from two different walks of life can co-exist and discover that we are not so different after all. By trusting each other, working together and showing each other respect, the family of owls allow her into their world; now, they have become a part of hers. Together, Cheryl, her family and these magnificent birds have proven ever more, the statement... Where There's a Will, There's a Way.
