Soul of Courage: Inspired by the life of John Lothropp

John Lothropp, formerly a clergyman in the Church of England, forsook his ministry because of doctrinal differences with the Church's teachings, as well as adversities he endured from a church filled with corruption. Since he joined with the Independents, and dared defy the Bishop of London, he was thrown into Newgate Prison, arguably one of the worst prisons in the world.

John battles with guilt knowing his eldest son struggles with family responsibilities abruptly placed upon his young shoulders. He constantly fears the death of his wife, realizing she endures an illness no doctor can name nor cure. The difficulties his eldest daughter copes with as she does her best to be a mother to the younger children, in addition to caring for her own ailing mother, bring him deep concern. Without his presence, who will guide his daughter in courtship and marriage?
