Soon, everything comes crashing down when the author is diagnosed with cancer-Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma-that originated in the left lung, and is thrown into a whirlwind of illness that will test not only her body, but also her faith. Just as the cancer is about to go into remission, congestive heart failure sets in as a result of the cancer treatments. Ultimately, a heart transplant is needed. Like many single women cancer patients, the author is left broken, unable to work, and financially destitute. Fighting against biblical principles only prolongs her suffering and delays development of the fruit of the spirit.
The author finally learns to beat cancer and illness at its own game by truly trusting in God. That's when His promises are fulfilled. The author not only becomes a cancer survivor, but a stronger Christian as well. Even in the most difficult situations, there is hope. This hope will ultimately bring a peace that surpasses all understanding.
