Andrew Wilhelm is a professor of Philosophy whose dreams died with the death of his beloved, Elena Mackenzie. He needs a new dream and approaches it literally. He attempts what some think to be an exotic technique of dreamwork. But while doing so he encounters a dream teacher who forewarns he will begin a journey in which his psyche would be reconstructed.
On his journey he confronts his own prejudices and gains the most unlikely circle of friends ever: a Scandanavian-American heiress whose boyfriend is a Black owner of a construction company, a Muslim woman who came to America to escape an arranged marriage to a despicable man, a drag queen from Argentina who survived the Dirty War, an Asian-American transsexual who had endured rape as a child and became a reclusive cook, a Catholic priest who raised a squirrel, and a prescient transgender witch. Together they confront an interstate conspiracy, find themselves, and find one another. In the process, Andrew finds his own inner strength, and a foundation for a new life.
The Journey to the Seventh Day is a story about pneumatopoiesis, the formation and development of spirituality. It also reveals innocence as a virtue that can be recovered and cultivated at any age of life.
