All the Messiahs Agree

Falling in love in the middle of the journey of our lives, in a sharp and sometimes bitter spring, is a shocking thing. It is an unfurling in the rain and emergent soft sun; a bud needing nourishment and safe ground, so fragile under the constant danger of being crushed. There arises too that sense of being somewhere trying to carry on as if it is business as usual, as if your heart and soul aren’t elsewhere, waiting for the rest of you to join them, in the only place you want to be.

These twenty-four poems and one haiku speak to such deep stirring in dull roots, a testament to hidden veins of truth running close to the bone.
