Blueberry Pie: a play on memory

"Blueberry Pie" is the story of an elderly woman in a nursing home. Though largely unaware of her present surroundings, Gladys has no trouble remembering the past. Indeed, she speaks of nothing but a particular Sunday dinner and the blueberry pie which inevitably comes at its end.

Was the dinner she speaks of a real event, or imaginary? And what of her children and their father? Was the family really as happy as her addled daydreams make them out to be?

These questions will soon be answered; for on this day her children are coming to visit for the first time in her year at the nursing home.

What sort of people will they be, and what will their present selves say about familial love and memories? And what will it say about our attempts to reconcile our hopes and dreams with the harsher realities of life?
