Imagine driving down a wooded road in Maine and having an alien jump out in front of you. Now imagine that the alien is a pretty redheaded girl and is being chased by some very nasty creatures. She is nude. You take her to your home, feed her, bathe her, bind her wounds, clothe her and try to teach her some English.
Various anomalies convince you that she is not of this planet. What do you do? The Nasty's have shot holes in your pickup while trying to shoot her. She's expecting her sister to land soon. You both arm yourselves and return to her landing place, to make it safe for sister, hoping to pick off a few Nasty's in the process. After all, they shot holes in your pickup. They should pay for that.
Nasty's are gone, sister is there, also nude. You introduce the girls to chocolate. Now you are a hero, but the Nasty's are still searching for them. Your house is fortified and has many explosive deterrents, so when they come, you blow them away. The girls shoot one who has clubbed you and given you a concussion.
The girls take you to their home planet. It is solely populated by women and the planet is dying due to an invasion of bugs that ate everything green. They have also run out of frozen sperm and the population has fallen drastically. You are the first male they have ever seen.
The Nasty's have followed you and bombard the girl's home which, luckily, has a great bomb shelter. You all return to Earth and are bombarded there too. You are starting to become seriously perturbed at them.
Active measures are adopted to stop the Nasty's depredations, some of which involve teleporting and telepathy by children, your children. The Air Force and the Navy help too-and then there are always the Marines.
That's when life gets exciting.....
