The author, Shee-Jeong Park, is a NZ diplomat with a PhD in political science, who cherishes the title "Jamie's mum". The illustrator, Tiziana Stoto, is an Italian nuclear engineer with a PhD in materials physics, who became an IT consultant and trainer after the birth of her daughter Julia. Shee-Jeong and Tiziana are next door neighbours in Waikanae, New Zealand.
