Coastal defence navies constitute a distinct type of naval force in the world today. They possess a unique set of force structure and support infrastructure characteristics. And, more than any other type of navy, they are directly influenced by the geographical conditions of their operational environments. This book examines and classifies both coastal defence navies and their operational environments.
