Building New Labour: The Politics of Party Organisation

Russell (senior research fellow, The Constitution Unit, U. College London, UK) charts the internal changes undergone by the UK's Labour Party since 1979 in order to provide a record of its organizational reforms and analyze the collective impact of reforms on internal party change. In exploring the origins of individual reforms and charting the involvement of protagonists in organizational negotiations, he seeks to judge the success various proponents have had in achieving reforms and the extent to which reforms resulted in the objectives sought.
