Teachers DO Make a Difference: The Teacher's Guide to Connecting With Students

Deiro (human services, Western Washington U.) has worked as a teacher, counselor, and an education consultant for 34-plus years. She offers this text as a follow up to her lengthier work, Teaching With Heart, for the busy educator who lacks the time or energy to read the longer book, but wants to understand how he or she can make a difference. Using real-life examples and vignettes of six teachers, she demonstrates ways that teachers can develop meaningful, healthy connections with students that promote prosocial, responsible behavior among students—and all without adding more responsibilities to their daily schedules or going beyond the expectations of their job descriptions as teachers.
