Laura's Shooting Star

The Civil War has ended and seven-year-old Laura Matthews is lost and homeless, but is rescued by Chief Shooting Star and taken to Still Waters. His tribe also takes in Cody Miller, another young orphan, and it is there at the Still Waters camp that Laura finds the love and security of a new family. She also develops a crush on Cody, but fate separates the two young friends. Then, inadvertently, they run into each other again when Cody unwittingly travels out east where Laura has made a new life. But sadly, circumstances ruin all their plans for marriage and they must separate once again. Laura soon meets Rafe Matthews, a complex man with his heart in the right place and they are wed. They move to Sycamore Falls, which is in close proximity to Still Waters and one day fate has a surprise for Laura. She sees a stranger in town. Could it be? Yes, Cody Miller has come to Sycamore Falls. Her heart stops-will he be living there or is he merely passing through her life once again? Laura is in a panic. Rafe does not know her secret.
