Johnny Depp

Long before he became a movie star, Johnny Depp struggled with life. A dysfunctional family and academic troubles led the rebellious teenager to drop out of school and pursue an unsuccessful rock music career. He then turned to acting, debuting in 1984 in the horror thriller A Nightmare on Elm Street. That was followed by a starring role on 21 Jump Street, a television drama that earned him a teen idol status he soon came to despise.
