Barbados

Fascinated by the strange, bearded figs growing on this easternmost Caribbean island, 16th-century Portuguese explorer pedro a Campos named the land after them- "Los Barbados," meaning "the bearded ones." But it was the English who in 1627 first colonized the island. Located about 250 miles off the coast of Venezuela.
