Stalemate: U.S. Public Opinion of the War in Vietnam

During the Vietnam War the U.S. had superior firepower and mobility. In spite of this, the Communist forces were prepared to accept great losses. Meanwhile in the U.S., the population was becoming increasingly disaffected by the rising casualty rate of their own forces, and the growing "credibility gap" between what they were being told by their government and what the media was reporting from South Vietnam.
